According to the finance media Leaprate, the Chinese Baidu has made a decision to ban all ads of Binary Options (BO) brokers everywhere on its network.
As Baidu is the major search engine in China, reaching approximately 70% of searching results, this is a major game-changer for online advertising of BO brokers in China, dependent mostly on online traffic. Seems like leads for BO brokers will be pretty limited now in China.
As for the already existing and paid campaigns, Baidu guarantees them to conclude in the agreed manner, but any new campaigns will be forbidden and no new BO brokers’ customers could come from the Chinese major search engine.
Baidu came under attack due to advertisements after the case of one Chinese student, who died of cancer and was mislead by a false advertisement for cure for cancer. Baidu had to change its rules for advertisement, after being warned by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the country’s online watchdog.
According to the regulator, Baidu shall comprise of lower amount of ads in search results, change its result rankings for more credibility and mark paid-for listings more clearly.
So the next target of Baidu’s changes became BO brokers, who like to exaggerate, so the search engine can be safe from regulator’s interventions. As for the forex broker ads, they will be more expensive due to this new regulation.
Now we can expect the marketing agencies to ask for incredible amount per leads and a CPA model for Chinese clients will cost you enormous amount of money. Nevertheless, such change will be applied for the entire market, so there will be no exception and other search engines will have to follow these rules soon as the authority of the regulator in China is still high.
