A BBC reports shows that the Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright revealed his identity as a bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto after couple of years of misleading information.
This finally ends years of speculation about the real creator of the famous digital cryptocurrency. Craig Wright has provided also technical proof to support his claim to be Bitcoin’s creator.
What was backing him, were another prominent members of the Bitcoin community and its core development team who also confirmed Mr. Wright’s claim.
Mr. Wright came out with the truth, revealing his identity to three major medias – the BBC, the Economist and GQ.
At the meeting with the BBC, Mr. Wright digitally signed messages using cryptographic keys created during the early days of Bitcoin’s development. The keys are inextricably linked to blocks of bitcoins known to have been created or “mined” by Satoshi Nakamoto.
Mr. Wright’s home was searched back in December of 2015 by the Australian Federal Police officers in Sydney’s north shore due to tax issues. The Wired Magazine has already speculated that time, even before the raid, about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto and creator of the bitcoin technology and currency as Mr. Wright.
It is said that the Bitcoin creator (or Mr. Wright now) amassed about one million Bitcoins what would enrich him with a net worth in bitcoin of about $450M at actual fx rate of bitcoin to American dollar (around 1 BTC = $450 USD in May 2, 2016).
During the interview, Mr. Wright said he doesn’t want to be famous or well known, he just wants to work and never wants to be on camera again.
The name Satoshi Nakamoto is well known to the entire bitcoin community as the pseudonym of the mysterious person or group of people who authored the paper, protocol and software that gave rise to bitcoin.
