Finnish wireless-equipment company Nokia Oyj informed to be in talks with Alcatel-Lucent about the acquisitionof its wireless assets. If such agreement is made, it will end in a creation of European telecommunication giant, worth of more than €40B.
In a joint announcement, companies stated "there can be no certainty at this stage that these discussions will result in any agreement or transaction."
Such reaction is mostly motivated to enforce Nokia's market position, compared to its rival Ericsson.
Nokia's shares dropped markedly on Tuesday (even 7%), as the information has been provided already late on Monday by Bloomberg. Alcatel-Lucent shares jumped over 10% on acquisition offer information.
